Week 4, Day 1, Read: Galatians 3:26-29 SOAP: Galatians 3:28-29

Week 4, Day 2, Read: Galatians 4:1-7 SOAP: Galatians 4:4-7

As we continue with our text, Paul, now having made the case that righteousness doesn't come from the law but through faith in Christ, moves to the next logical conclusion: this righteousness is made available to everyone, not just the Jew, which is what the Judaizers were contending.

Galatians 3:28 (NASB) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The whole problem among the Galatian Christians is that some wanted to still observe the dividing line between Jew and Greek. Paul writes, "In Jesus Christ that line is done away with. When we are in Jesus, there is neither Jew nor Greek."

Galatians 3:29 (NASB) And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

Galatians Week 3 Day 5

S--Thus the law had become our guardian until Christ, so that we could be declared righteous by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

O/A – “Continuing the perspective of salvation history introduced earlier, Paul gives further consideration to the place of the law in the divine economy by showing the relation between law and faith as two distinct dispensations.”
In Paul’s day it was common for children between age six and puberty to be under the care of a pedagogue (tutor). They protected them from evil influences and demanded their obedience.

Galatians 3:16-19 Amplified Bible (AMP)

 Now the promises [in the covenants] were decreed to Abraham and to his seed. God does not say, “And to seeds (descendants, heirs),” as if [referring] to many [persons], but as to one, “And to your Seed,” who is [none other than] Christ. This is what I mean: the Law, which came into existence four hundred and thirty years later [after the covenant concerning the coming Messiah], does not and cannot invalidate the covenant previously established by God, so as to abolish the promise. For if the inheritance [of what was promised] is based on [observing] the Law [as these false teachers claim], it is no longer based on a promise; however, God granted it to Abraham [as a gift] by virtue of His promise.

Why, then, the Law [what was its purpose]? It was added [after the promise to Abraham, to reveal to people their guilt] because of transgressions [that is, to make people conscious of the sinfulness of sin], and [the Law] was ordained through angels and delivered to Israel by the hand of a mediator [Moses, the mediator between God and Israel, to be in effect] until the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made.

Galatians 3:11-14 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Now it is clear that no one is justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing] before God by the Law, for “The righteous (the just, the upright) shall live by faith.” But the Law does not rest on or require faith [it has nothing to do with faith], but [instead, the Law] says, “He who practices them [the things prescribed by the Law] shall live by them [instead of faith].” Christ purchased our freedom and redeemed us from the curse of the Law and its condemnation by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs [crucified] on a tree (cross)”— in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might also come to the Gentiles, so that we would all receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit through faith.

Galatians Week 3 Day 2

SOAP: Galatians 3:8-9

verse 8 says, "...the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham..." To say that Scripture foresaw and preached the gospel beforehand is to personify Scripture. The written text is treated as a person who sees and speaks.

Week 3 day 1 Galatians 3:1-5

Paul addresses his readers directly with a series of piercing questions. These questions are asked in a tone of rebuke.

Paul confronts them head on with their folly and the inconsistency of their behavior. They have begun to be sucked in by the Judaizers, and Paul shows them that their action contradicts the work of Christ on the cross and contradicts the work of the Spirit in their lives.

Galatians Week 2 Day 5

Ladies I am sharing commentary on these verses. 
Busy, filled weekend and packing!! We are believing God for our new place--

while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves are also found to be sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor (Gal 2:17-18).

Galatians Week 2 Day 4

S- Galatians 2:14-16 But as soon as I saw that they were not straightforward and were not living up to the truth of the Gospel, I said to Cephas (Peter) before everybody present, If you, though born a Jew, can live [as you have been living] like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how do you dare now to urge and practically force the Gentiles to [comply with the ritual of Judaism and] live like Jews? [I went on to say] Although we ourselves (you and I) are Jews by birth and not Gentile (heathen) sinners, Yet we know that a man is justified or reckoned righteous and in right standing with God not by works of the Law, but [only] through faith and [absolute] reliance on and adherence to and trust in Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). [Therefore] even we [ourselves] have believed on Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law [for we cannot be justified by any observance of the ritual of the Law given by Moses], because by keeping legal rituals and by works no human being can ever be justified (declared righteous and put in right standing with God). Galatians Week 2 Day 3

S - Galatians 2:11-13 But when Cephas (Peter) came to Antioch, I protested and opposed him to his face [concerning his conduct there], for he was blameable and stood condemned. For up to the time that certain persons came from James, he ate his meals with the Gentile [converts]; but when the men [from Jerusalem] arrived, he withdrew and held himself aloof from the Gentiles and [ate] separately for fear of those of the circumcision [party]. And the rest of the Jews along with him also concealed their true convictions and acted insincerely, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy (their example of insincerity and pretense).   S - For He Who motivated and fitted Peter and worked effectively through him for the mission to the circumcised, motivated and fitted me and worked through me also for [the mission to] the Gentiles..... They only [made one stipulation], that we were to remember the poor, which very thing I was also eager to do. (AMP)

Galatians Week 2 Day 1

S - [My precaution was] because of false brethren who had been secretly smuggled in [to the Christian brotherhood]; they had slipped in to spy on our liberty and the freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might again bring us into bondage [under the Law of Moses].

To them we did not yield submission even for a moment, that the truth of the Gospel might continue to be [preserved] for you [in its purity]. (AMP)

Galatians Week 1 Day 5

S - They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” And they praised God because of me.

S - But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb and called me through His grace, to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood, nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me; but I went to Arabia, and returned again to Damascus.

S–Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

S- I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ

Hello World

Hello! I am back, after what I realized was an extended break. 

I finally figured out how to get back into this blog and all my pages and links. I will be checking them after the holiday. If you see something that isn't working just message me.

My last post here was in 2012, after my granny went to be with the Lord.   Just a quick note, for those following me, I did have to help out my youngest sister for a period of time, her young husband died suddenly in his sleep, left her with an 8 yr old son with special needs and a 3 yr daughter. 

Shortly after that I met a wonderful man of God who is now my husband. We have a blended family with children ranging from ages 16-28 and we one grand-baby (3yr old in Sept) and one on the way—due in October.
