Hold that Idea!

Is there a vision or an idea that keeps coming back to you time and again?

Does it seem crazy?
Does it seem impossible?
Does it just seem unlike you?

Hold on!
Before you discard it, what if that idea is from God?

God is the ultimate source of ideas. Every fiber of His being and doing displays His creativity; and as we are made in His image, creativity should lay inherent within us. 1 Corinthians 2:16b says: “We have the mind of Christ”. Therefore no child of His can say that he is lacking in the ‘Ideas Department’.

I have had many ideas and one of them was this blog page. At first, I was contemplating it to be a journal for myself. My journey, what I learn along the way and remembrances of the important times in my life that I knew God was working in me and others.  As I started documenting my studies and other thoughts on what I read on other blogs and devotional book I kept feeling the ‘nudge’ to ‘publish’.

You can’t, but God can
Not that God has stopped his flow of ideas, the issue maybe either we are too busy to listen, or have very little faith that those ideas can succeed! In fact many of us are sitting on those God ideas, doing nothing with them. Well, just because God gives you an idea doesn’t mean anything will ever come out of it. “Faith is what pleases God” (Heb 11:6), and the rule hasn’t changed.

I converse a lot online with many friends and my sons’ friends.  In this day and age communication on social networks has become the norm. I really wanted to reach them and others that may relate to our history. Give them hope and support. So this thought just kept coming into my mind that this would be away for me to do just that.

Good idea versus God idea
Not all good ideas are God ideas. For good ideas to come into fruition, you have to make it happen; whereas for God ideas, as we show our obedience, God makes it work and all you do is stand back and watch it happen.

As I began to make my blog public with some critiquing still going on, I have received many blessing from other women, men and young people.  What I am sharing is calling out the hearts for the Lord. All the Glory and Praise to the Lord, Amen!

You don’t have to look to the world for inspiration, ask God!
Ideas are not necessarily for restricted to professionals who are in the creative fields. You may be working as a clerk, housewife or minister of God, you can still ask God to give you unique ideas.

Mark 12:30 says, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength” (NLT).

Faith isn't just a belief; it’s a way of life. Living by faith as we follow God requires us to make decisions that seem risky. And there are no guarantees, except that God is trustworthy.

God is challenging me to grow. I know of several specific ways God has wanted me to act in faith, but I have been reluctant to try—or to trust.

At the same time, I’m sure God is challenging you to grow in some way. Think about the areas in which God has encouraged you to step out in faith.

Maybe you suppressed the idea, thinking it was crazy or too risky.
God’s growth opportunities don’t easily go away, though, God is nudging you forward.

Once you have a specific thing in mind, pray about it this week. Ask God to show you what to do or how to do it. If you are willing to step out in faith and obedience, you will find freedom and fulfillment.

Let me know what act of faith God is encouraging you to take.  I will pray for you.
Let me know after and we’ll celebrate

Let’s make this a year of faith an adventure as we follow God.

  1. Great post that should be repeated occasionally!

It was God's idea for me to move from Kansas to New Zealand and He's been beside me all the way!

  2. God told me on the day that my husband walked out, to stand for my marriage reconciliation because he's coming home. And he did come home, for three days. Then left again, picked up the papers, and divorced me, leaving our child in the middle of a terrible custody battle. The journey has been tremendous, the growth has been amazing, and the promise is still as real to me as the day He spoke it. I would love your prayers, and can't wait to celebrate his homecoming!

  4. My "God given Goal" is to write Bible studies. I don't exactly know if it's my idea or His to try to get them published, but if He wants it, he will make a way. I'm writing one to post on the Blog in September so I am doing the goal. I'm just not sure how 'big' this is supposed to be. I'm trying to plan... and that's just silly when it comes to God lol. I just want to make sure that is from God, and not just me. I've always wanted to be a writer and I LOVE writing Bible Studies. --Kelly
