A Friend I can Trust

I have not posted this week as our family has been busy visiting with my son who is visiting from Texas, however, I did want to share some blessings.

I have been blessed by some that read this blog and have been contacting me. I have a part of some emails I want to share, please feel free to comment below to help and encourage our new friends.

Praise the Lord in all I do, may others be encouraged to follow the Lord.

When we believe in the Lord, we still have ‘bad days’, trials, and problems.
Jesus said ‘I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart, I have overcome the world.’
Jesus has already overcome the world and if God be for us, who can be against us.

The Question is… How do we trust in the Lord and stop from fearing the past will continue in our lives? How should we pray?

“I know that I need to trust God and believe he is always with me, even when I feel like I am at my worst.  I just need to learn how to block all of the negativity in my head that keeps me from being happy.  I will conquer this because God will help me.  Why is it that I still fear?  Am I not giving God my all, am I praying wrong?  I do love and accept him in my life but I feel like I fail him because I still fear not getting better.”

Remember that when we pray, we are praying to the same God that Noah, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David and all the prophets, prayed to.  Our God is the same God that delivered Noah and his family out of the flood, parted the seas, delivered the people out of Egypt, God promised David and his descendants would be established as the royal heirs to the throne of the nation of Israel
If our God can do all these great things, he can undoubtedly help us to overcome in this life.

God wants you to come to Him through prayer. He not only invites you to do so, but also promises to hear; bless, and answer you as you respond to His invitation.
Jesus answered to his disciples when they asked ‘How do we pray’
And he said to them, "When you pray, say:
“Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.”

We all know this prayer; we must not pray this in a mechanical way but sincerely.
This prayer gives us a model from Jesus how we should pray to the Father.

Establishing the relationship first is the beginning of prayer.
Do you know God as your father when you pray?
Are you looking towards God, or are you looking at your problems when you pray?
Jesus leads us to pray hollowed be your name. That word, "hallowed" means most special, always right, and different from anything else.
Is he most special to you?
Are your really praying? Or are you just frantically giving orders to God?
Brothers and sisters, it makes a difference!

Next we find that we have to be willing to put our father's will first in our life, just like those in heaven. Are we willing to keep our part of the relationship and let him be our Lord and determine what we need and want?
Sometimes we say… to our Pastor, Preacher, etc, “please pray for my such and such situation and I promise to come to church regular."
You know what happens most of the time?
When by God's grace and mercy their prayer is answered, they disappear until the next crisis!

Jesus leads us next to ‘ask’. "Give us each day"--prayer is a day by day thing. Its focus is on today. Our prayer needs are experienced in each today, and they will be met in a today.

God cannot bring satisfaction to prayer in the past because it is gone forever, and he cannot answer a prayer for the future, because we are not there yet! And when we do get there it is today!
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Still another part of praying means that prayer never ends until it has been satisfied. It must be prayed over and over in each today. Praying last week to your most special Father in heaven is not a prayer! It was a prayer!
Right after Jesus told his disciple how to pray, he compared true prayer to a traveler who comes to a friend's house to stay in the middle of the night.
The friend says, "No, the family is in bed and the place is locked." Jesus says the friend will finally answer the door and let him in, not because he is a friend to the traveler, but because the traveler keeps knocking! Keep praying every day!

The three shortest verses in the Bible are, "Jesus wept," "rejoice always," and "pray continuously!"

When we do have trials and times of hopelessness, these are the times that the Lord teaches us to have faith and our faith grows.  We grow spiritually at these times because we rely on the Lord.  God wants us to grow in our faith, so sometimes we may not understand what or why but you can be sure that the outcome will always be good. We always grow stronger in the Lord at these times.

2 Timothy 1:7: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

In the bible it says 'do not fear' 'do not be afraid'  365 times!!  That is one time for each day of the year!!
“Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”   (Isaiah 41:10)

In Psalm 56:11 the psalmist writes, “In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” This is an awesome testimony to the power of trusting in God. Regardless of what happens, the psalmist will trust in God because he knows and understands the power of God. The key to overcoming fear, then, is total and complete trust in God. Trusting God is a refusal to give in to fear. It is a turning to God even in the darkest times and trusting Him to make things right. This trust comes from knowing God and knowing that He is good.
As Job said when he was experiencing some of the most difficult trials recorded in the Bible, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15 NKJV).

Once we have learned to put our trust in God, we will no longer be afraid of the things that come against us. We will be like the psalmist who said with confidence “…let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you” (Psalm 5:11).

Jesus said,
Come to Me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28).
I am with you always, even to the ends of the earth (Matt. 28:20).
He said that His words will not pass away (Mark 13:31).
He said that He would raise you up on the last day (John 6:40).
He said that whatever you asked in His name would be give to you. (John 14:14).
He said He would disclose Himself to you (John 14:21).
He said that He would reveal the Father to you (Matt. 11:27)
And He said He would return in the clouds and that every eye will see Him (Mark 13:27).

Because of who God is and what He has already done for you, you can trust Him even more for the future and have no fear that He will continue to uphold you, love you, and continue His wonderful loving plan in your life.
Psalm 91:15-16: "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation."

How to overcome fear or any negative emotion, we must:
(1) Ask the Lord to remove it.
(2) Quote the Word of God.
(3) Listen to the Holy Spirit.
(4) Obey His guidance.
(5) Praise Him for the answer.

Here is also a Psalm and prayer for you....

"I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my  strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
 I will call upon the Lord,  who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies."
 Psalm 18:1-3

I pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you.  Stay in the Word and you will find strength!

A Friend I can Trust

Hello God, I called tonight
   To talk a little while..
   I need a friend who'll listen
   To my anxiety and trial...
You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
   So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.  And fill their lives with confidence
   For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face
   Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home
   And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
   When I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one
   That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.
So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
   And I'll call again tomorrow

  13. "How do we trust in the Lord and stop from fearing the past will continue in our lives?" I don't even want to admit how many times this thought has crossed my mind over the last two years. It's probably in the hundreds!! Yet God always brings me back to the wonderful scripture of Isaiah 43:18-19 Do not remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing!
    Amen for that!

  15. Fear and Faith cannot occupy the same space, any more than light and dark can. It's up to US to decide which we allow to operate in our lives, and that can be a moment by moment choice. Turn on the LIGHT (FAITH) and the DARK (FEAR) must leave......it cannot stay.

I love it when we share and encourage one another!! Thank you for joining me on my journey.
